Sales Report H1 2026: New vehicle sales continue to accelerate in AutoWallis’ Retail Business Unit
2026.07.15.
The favorable trends seen in the first three months of the year continued, with new vehicle sales in the AutoWallis Group’s Retail Business Unit increasing by nearly 10% overall in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, the Distribution Business Unit narrowed its decline to 3.5%, primarily thanks to sales of brands newly added to its portfolio last year. The Mobility Services Business Unit of AutoWallis closed a strong quarter once again, while service activity also increased.
AutoWallis expects sales to strengthen further during the remainder of the year.
The Retail Business Unitof AutoWallis Group continued to deliver a strong performance in the second quarter, increasing new vehicle sales in the markets covered by the Company by 9.7% to 6,417 units in the first six months of the year. Used vehicle sales declined by an overall 5.6% to 1,762 units. This was partly attributable to a fleet replacement carried out by the Group’s Mobility Services Business Unit in the base period, the first half of 2025, during which some of the vehicles from the previous fleet were sold through AutoWallis’ dealership network. Growth in the number of service hours accelerated in the second quarter, increasing the total for the first six months of the year by 3.7% to 166,593. This was primarily due to the 1.4% organic growth and the contribution of the service center opened in Debrecen last year.
The Distribution Business Unit of AutoWallis significantly increased its sales in the second quarter compared to the first three months of the year. As a result, it sold 17,946 vehicles in the first half. While sales in the first quarter were still substantially below the base-period figure, the 10,270 vehicles sold in the second quarter represented a decline of only 1.8% compared to the same period last year. Thanks to the improving trend, the 5.8% decline recorded in the first quarter narrowed to 3.5% by the end of the first half. This decline was primarily driven by a 1,577-unit decrease in KGM sales, followed by a shortfall of 203 units in Opel sales. In addition, the comparison base from last year was supported by significant fleet transactions, while Opel’s figures this year were adversely affected by production difficulties and lower output caused by component shortages resulting from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The lower volumes of the larger brands were only partly offset by brands that had not yet been sold in the first half of last year, including Nissan, with an additional 605 units. As previously indicated by the Company, the decline recorded by the Distribution Business Unit in the first quarter was considered temporary. Following the favorable trends seen in the second quarter, further growth is expected in the coming period. Opel vehicles whose delivery was delayed in the second quarter may arrive in the second half of the year to fulfill outstanding customer orders.
The Mobility Services Business Unit of AutoWallis, which includes the Group’s short- and long-term vehicle rental and fleet management activities, increased the number of rental events by 4.1% to 200,314, while the number of rental days rose by 16% to 115,837. Growth in rental days accelerated further compared to the first quarter, driven by the dynamic increase in airport passenger traffic. The AutoWallis Group’s average fleet size increased by 5.4% to 4,099 vehicles in the first six months of the year.
Commenting on the second-quarter sales figures and the outlook, Gábor Ormosy, CEO of AutoWallis, said that the Company had succeeded in narrowing the decline recorded by the Distribution Business Unit in the first quarter during the second quarter. He added that the 3.5% decline still visible at the end of the first half was also considered temporary, with orders already placed indicating growth in the coming period. For the remainder of the year, AutoWallis expects further growth in the region’s automotive markets, as well as continued organic growth for the Group.
