Mobility Perspective 2026: Market outlook and AutoWallis brands’ plans for the Slovenian automotive market

AutoWallis, the leading integrated provider of cars and mobility services in the Central and Eastern European region hosted the media event ‘Mobility Perspective 2026’ at the Brdo Congress Centre in Kranj, bringing together AutoWallis leaders, automotive experts and Slovenian media. The event focused on AutoWallis’ sales plans and strategic priorities for its brands on the Slovenian market in 2026, while also addressing broader trends shaping the future of mobility.

Mobility Perspectives 2026 aims to provide a platform for open dialogue and the exchange of views on the opportunities and challenges facing the automotive industry in Slovenia and the wider region, reinforcing AutoWallis’ long-term commitment to sustainable growth, innovation and responsible mobility. During the event, AutoWallis presented strategic priorities of its individual brands on the Slovenian market, highlighting both short-term market dynamics and long-term structural trends shaping the future of mobility. Particular emphasis was placed on portfolio development, electrification, customer experience and the importance of local market adaptability within a regional framework.

Zsolt Müllner, Chairman of the Board of AutoWallis, highlighted that the mobility sector is undergoing a fundamental transformation. Traditional automotive business models are evolving in parallel with accelerating digitalization, the adoption of new technologies and rapidly changing customer expectations. These changes could offer great opportunities for further growth in any of the 17 CEE countries where AutoWallis is present with its 30 brands.

Pál Bihari, Director of Distribution Business Unit of AutoWallis, underlined the strength of the AutoWallis’ diverse brand portfolio and the importance of efficient, market-oriented distribution structures in supporting sustainable growth across Central and Eastern Europe. Electrification is happening in this region as well as other changes, and the new brands recently added can help AutoWallis to play a significant role in this process.

AutoWallis also outlined several key milestones by Brands that have strengthened its position on the Slovenian market and support its strategic ambitions for the coming period.

The launch of Farizon in March 2025 marked an important expansion of AutoWallis’ light commercial vehicle portfolio in Slovenia, supported by a dedicated presentation for media and fleet customers in Ljubljana. The brand’s development will continue in 2026 with the introduction of the new V7E model.

In the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio, brand positioning has been reinforced through exclusive customer and media experiences. A dedicated event in 2025 highlighted the OCTA model as a key addition to the Defender range, while a Range Rover customer and media event is planned for March 2026.

Opel significantly strengthened its market presence through the launch of a fully renewed SUV portfolio. during 2025 In 2025, the brand introduced the new Grandland, Mokka and Frontera, completing a comprehensive renewal of its SUV range. This was complemented by the opening of a new Opel dealership showroom in Novo Mesto and the introduction of an eight-year warranty program, one of the longest on the market, emphasizing Opel’s focus on achieving customer confidence and long-term value. On the excellently prepared customer‑centric foundations, the new Opel Astra will be introduced next year.

The market entry of XPENG marked a key step in AutoWallis’ electrification strategy. Following the brand’s regional launch in 2025 and a temporary pop-up presence in Ljubljana, XPENG will continue its expansion in 2026 with the opening of its first permanent showroom in Ljubljana, followed by a second location in Maribor.

The transformation of AutoWallis’ retail operations in Slovenia was also highlighted during the event. Over the past year, the company has introduced a new, unified corporate identity and a fully renovated Ljubljana showroom designed according to the BMW Retail.NEXT concept. This transformation sets new standards for the BMW and MINI customer experience, placing a strong emphasis on a personalised approach, seamless digital integration and a contemporary retail environment. As noted by Blaž Urbanija, Managing Director of AutoWallis Ljubljana, the same signature will be gradually introduced across other locations in Slovenia, reinforcing a consistent and future-oriented AutoWallis retail experience nationwide.

AutoWallis has been present in Slovenia since 2007 with its Distribution Business Unit, which now represents five brands: Jaguar, Land Rover, Opel, Farizon, and XPENG. The Retail Business Unit entered the Slovenian market in 2020, which marked AutoWallis’ first retail activity outside Hungary at the same time, with the acquisition of Slovenia’s largest BMW dealership. Since then, the company has BMW, Opel, Toyota, and Suzuki dealerships in five cities across the country, as well as exclusively operating MINI and Land Rover dealerships. These experiences provide comprehensive market knowledge and a perfect foundation for future growth.
