AutoWallis brings NIO & firefly to Hungary

2025.12.16.

Today, AutoWallis, the official general distributor of the NIO brand, celebrates its market launch in Hungary. Sales and service of NIO models in Hungary will commence in January, making one of the world's leading brands for smart electric vehicles available in this country from the beginning of 2026.

NIO, a global company founded in 2014, is regarded worldwide as a pioneer in the premium segment of smart electric vehicles. Its guiding philosophy ‘Blue Sky Coming’, symbolizes NIO’s vision of a clean, connected and more liveable future through sustainable mobility.

At the heart of it all is the Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) – a vehicle designed around a digital architecture from the outset. Thanks to proprietary hardware and software platforms, regular over-the-air updates and the AI-based voice assistant NOMI, NIO models are continuously evolving – for an intelligent, connected and future-proof driving experience.

A key element of this technology is the standard NIO Aquila Super Sensing system. It features 33 powerful sensor units, including a high-resolution LiDAR with ultra-long range, eleven 8MP cameras, 5-millimetre wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors and an improved driver monitoring system. Aquila sets new standards for sensor systems in intelligent driving and increases the safety of assisted driving thanks to the combination of LiDAR and 8MP cameras.

Four fully electric models will be available from January onwards in Hungary: the smart electric mid-size sedan ET5, the smart electric tourer ET5 Touring, the smart electric all-round SUV EL6 and the brand new firefly, a smart, high-end compact electric car for urban users.

Annelies Reiss, Regional Brand Director NIO Central Europe: “The market entry in Hungary follows the clear mission “Blue Sky Coming” for a bright and more sustainable future. That is what drives us – every day, everywhere in the world and now also in Hungary. NIO combines technology, design and service into a holistic mobility experience. The aim is to make electric mobility not only more sustainable, but also more inspiring and individual.”
