BYD reaches important milestone in Hungary
2024.10.04.

The AutoWallis Group’s strategic partner and manufacturer of BYD, the world-leading New Energy Vehicles (NEV), has reached a significant milestone after leading the market of battery-powered electric vehicles (BEV) in Hungary in the months of July, August, and September. The fact that Wallis Motor’s BYD showroom on Könyves Kálmán körút had to be expanded after it opened is a good indicator of the success of BYD models, available at the AutoWallis Group since autumn of last year.
Data obtained from Datahouse show that the Chinese electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle manufacturer sold more than 1000 battery-powered electric vehicles (BEVs) in Hungary between January and September 2024. This makes it the number one purely electric vehicle brand in the country for the third month in a row. With 176 new vehicles registered in September, BYD cornered a 22.7% share on the Hungarian BEV segment, clearly illustrating the brand’s popularity among Hungarian consumers committed to sustainable mobility. The AutoWallis Group, recognizing the Chinese manufacturer’s growth potential, was among the first to open a BYD dealership in autumn 2023. Then last October, AW Distribution, a part of the Group, concluded a strategic partnership for the support of the Chinese carmaker’s import activities in Hungary, extending to logistics, training, marketing, and PR.
The impressive growth quickly required expansion of Wallis Motor’s BYD showroom on Könyves Kálmán körút after its opening. Although BYD is a relatively new player on the Hungarian market, it has achieved remarkable success, outpacing a number of its longer-established competitors in the electric car segment. Of the four electric models available in Hungary, all of which are available in Wallis Motor’s BYD dealerships, ATTO 3 and SEAL have proven to be the most popular, selling 369 and 265 vehicles, respectively, closely followed by the DOLPHIN. The D-segment SUV called SEAL U, introduced in the first quarter, is also seeing promising figures, and the number of deliveries planned for the coming weeks is expected to further increase the brand’s sales figures in the statistics.
