BYD, the world’s leading manufacturer of New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), – pure electric and plug-in hybrid cars that can be charged even from the mains – is now available in Western Hungary in the BYD AutoWallis showroom in Győr. Further strengthening its market position, the AutoWallis Group opened its second BYD point of sale, the company’s first rural unit under the AutoWallis brand. BYD cars are serviced in Győr by Iniciál Autóház, also part of the AutoWallis Group.

With a history of more than 30 years, the AutoWallis Group, the leading integrated car and mobility service provider in the Central and Eastern European region, has a strong focus on sustainable mobility. Opening of the AutoWallis Group’s Wallis Motor Duna BYD in Budapest was an important step in this direction in 2023, followed by the opening of the AutoWallis BYD showroom in Győr in April 2025.

Innovative developments accelerate sustainable mobility

Founded in 1995, BYD is a major player in electronics, automotive and renewable energy. The company’s innovative battery, floorpan and hybrid powertrain technologies are accelerating the transition from fossil fuel vehicles to electric cars. Maximum power, range and durability in their models is provided by their proprietary LFP battery, the BYD Blade Battery. Several of their vehicles are based on the e-Platform 3.0, also proprietary, that enhances vehicle power, safety and driving experience.

BYD made its debut on the European passenger car market at the Paris Motor Show in 2022, and in October 2023, BYD started selling electric cars in Hungary. In 2024, the carmaker have sold around 4.27 million new energy cars.

AutoWallis Group expands its operations by adding another BYD sales point

The AutoWallis Group is committed to more sustainable solutions, with electric cars significantly reducing emissions, lowering running and maintenance costs and reducing noise pollution.

“We opened our first BYD dealership in Budapest in 2023, and we have seen that the demand for the high-quality brand is as strong as we expected,” said Péter Antal, Director of the Retail Business Unit of AutoWallis Group. “Plug-in cars are becoming increasingly popular among the vehicles sold by AutoWallis dealerships, and there are already close to 700 BYD models on our domestic roads. We remain committed to sustainable operations and the transition to green transport, and customers are increasingly open to new technologies. This is why we have decided to further expand our presence in this segment. Western Hungary has a significant customer potential and the demand for electric vehicles in the region is growing year on year. We chose Győr in light of these market trends and economic factors”.
