Another leading brand joins AutoWallis: Geely to debut in Austria with the Hungarian group
2026.04.23.
AutoWallis is further strengthening its portfolio with another leading brand after signing an exclusive distribution agreement for Austria with China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. The agreement covers the Austrian distribution rights of the Geely brand this time. With this step, AutoWallis further expands the number of brands it represents and strengthens its cooperation with the world’s eighth largest vehicle manufacturer, while further diversifying its position in Central and Eastern Europe.
Geely’s innovations focus on technologies related to electric and hybrid powertrains as well as intelligent driving systems. The Chinese company also has significant growth plans in Europe.
AutoWallis is further strengthening its presence in Austria and expanding its cooperation with Chinese brands after reaching an agreement with Geely Group, the world’s eighth largest vehicle manufacturer, to acquire the exclusive importer rights for the Geely brand. The relationship is not new: in 2024 the automotive company listed on the Budapest Stock Exchange acquired the exclusive distribution rights for the manufacturer’s Farizon-branded electric light commercial vehicles in eight Central and Eastern European countries, including Austria. With this step, AutoWallis further expands its portfolio in terms of Chinese brands and extends its existing cooperation with the manufacturer. It also strengthens its presence in Austria, where the number of brands it represents will increase to four. Under the newly signed agreement, AutoWallis is expected to start distributing Geely’s popular fully electric E2 and EX5 models, as well as the plug-in hybrid Starray EM-i model, in Austria in the second half of 2026.
Zhejiang Geely Holding Group became the world’s eighth largest automotive manufacturer in 2025 and currently ranks third in China, with its shares listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong. The manufacturer is present with several brands across different markets, including Geely as well as internationally known brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Lotus, Zeekr, Proton, Farizon and Lynk & Co. Geely is at the forefront of automotive innovation, including autonomous driving technologies, electric and hybrid vehicles, and other advanced mobility solutions. In recent years, the company has become a significant Chinese player on the global automotive landscape thanks to its strong market position and diversified activities. Sales of Geely-branded vehicles increased by 39 percent in 2025 to more than 3 million units, of which nearly 1.7 million were electric or hybrid vehicles.
Commenting on the agreement, Gábor Ormosy, CEO of AutoWallis Group, said that besides its business significance, the partnership with Geely is also strategically important. With this step, AutoWallis not only further diversifies the number of Chinese brands it represents but also strengthens its presence in Austria, where it entered the market in 2023 – and now with Geely, it will represent four brands. This business development demonstrates that the largest Chinese manufacturers increasingly regard AutoWallis as an important and reliable partner across multiple countries and brands. This is also supported by the fact that the Hungary-based group has become a leading integrated automotive and mobility service provider in the region.
Pál Bihari, Director of the Distribution Business Unit of AutoWallis, pointed out that Austria is the second-largest vehicle sales market in the Central and Eastern European region, which is showing stable growth and where the popularity of electric vehicles is significantly increasing. Today, the majority of cars sold in Austria already feature some form of electric powertrain, and therefore AutoWallis expects Geely models to attract strong interest among Austrian customers.
